    I’m in south Louisiana and the More humidity and the white flies go crazy. I spray with an all seasons horticultural oil then a tree and shrub drench will help to prevent them but I don’t like to use it while the plant is blooming. You’ll have to re spray the horticulture oil a few times and if it rains. Bonide makes a good one.

    Do you have to hand pollinate them or are there pollinators that go to adenium in your area? I live in Argentina and two of mine have flowered three summers in a row but I've never gotten seed pods

    • @texasgardenguy

      It can take up to 7 years for them to produce seeds. I don’t hand pollinate. The bees usually do it for me.

    • @texasgardenguy
      @texasgardenguy 2 дні тому

      You shouldn’t have to do anything with cherry tomatoes because they’re such vigorous growers. It’s just too hot right now. They will typically shut down and not produce when it’s this hot. But if you can keep them in alive until fall, you should get some production.

    I tell people all you have to do is learn to identify our 4 venomous species, then you're good! I have an official Gulf Coast Toad posse that waits outside the back door for me every night, because they know I'm about to mess around in the garden and throw them juicy caterpillars. Still working out an arrangement with the tree frogs and geckos. Seems like the anole population exploded this spring, too.

    Newbie sage grower here. My mom got two plants when she found out she had breast cancer and skin cancer. Through that year of multiple surgeries, and health treatment, she received two Texas sage. I believe they are Silverados, but I'm not 100% sure. I planted them in the front yard without any knowledge of their species (First plants I've ever invested in). The plant that gets the most sunlight has blown up into a huge bush and the one that gets a little shade has grown big, but looks different. The one in the sun has a nice thick stalk and a bunch of surrounding smaller stalks giving it size and volume. The second has a bunch of smaller stalks, giving it size, but no big stalk and no volume. Any advice on what to do? BTW: Mom is cancer free and doing amazing!

    I have four of these and trimmed them up this spring and they have put out lots of leaves. But no blooms😕 they sit out on the south side of my house but they do not sit in the direct sun. Do they have to be in direct sun to get blooms. They are 24 inches from the sun. I was afraid it would blister their leaves. I live 60 E of Lubbock. Thank you

    We had a pretty big tree fall and my wife does want to loose this one. Like the last one that fell. Even though we do still have all the clippings from it , just leaning against the house, still alive. My question is, I need to know where I need to clip it back to look the best when it comes back. It's just way to big to lift back up as it is.anyone got suggestions

    • @texasgardenguy
      @texasgardenguy 6 днів тому

      I would prune the branches off where the skin is brown. Not green. Try to avoid cutting new green growth. Leave 6 to 8 inches from the cut so there is room for die back. And I know some people will cover the wound with that black branch sealer. I’ve also seen them use glue or caulk. I just make sure it’s in a dry place.

    I always use cinnamon. There was a time when I didn’t but on occasion I did have an issue. I didn’t cut all the little roots I think they add to the look. Here in San Antonio I don’t find any large desert rose at all. And are you advertising for Sol? I would go broke if I had to buy pre mix based soil. At over 200 trees and plants if I’m not making my own soils I’m losing money.

    • @texasgardenguy
      @texasgardenguy 6 днів тому

      I use primarily sol soils for all adeniums. But I only have 30 of them. If I had that many I definitely would probably have to make my own mix. If you are looking for a good variety and don’t mind a drive, I would recommend Fred Reyes Greenhouses in Simonton, TX. They are on the west side of Houston. Probably a 2 hours drive or so from San Antonio.

    this is my all time favorite plant; however! use gloves! The plant contains toxic compounds called cardiac glycosides, which can affect the central nervous system, gastrointestinal tract, and blood electrolyte levels. cutting those roots gets sap on your hands and you just don't know how often you touch your eyes or nose.

    • @texasgardenguy
      @texasgardenguy 6 днів тому

      I mention that in the video. I don’t use gloves unless I’m doing pruning. I also did not water it for about a week before. That will also help out with excessive sap flow. Then I also won’t water for another week
